Lewisville is becoming one of the hottest Dallas-area markets for young professionals and middle-aged folks alike.

Three years ago, the town of Lewisville obtained a new city manager and doubled down on revitalizing the community and developing their downtown area (known as Old Town).

Evidence of improvements are apparent and new construction can be seen just about everywhere you turn. Old Town Lewisville is quickly generating an appeal similar to Bishop Arts in Dallas. Not long ago, Lewisville had little to set it apart from any other D-FW suburb. Today, a rich local culture is emerging and giving the town a distinct vibe.

Residential properties like the adorable brownstone townhomes (pictured above) are popping up. Elite Residence alone is building 180 new units, creating the feel of constant activity.

“There is huge incentive for young professionals and the middle-aged crowd to buy in Lewisville,” says Cyrus Anvari of Elite Residence. “This is the artery of D-FW life with access to 121 and I-35 and rapid equity growth.”

Anvari reports residences jumping up in value from $199,000 to $298,000 in a year. Now is an ideal time for young people to invest in Lewisville before buy-in peaks with the development.

New residences help fuel other city improvements as more tax dollars are available for revamping city hall, making over the schools and redoing the industrial side of town--all major aspects of the city’s master plan.

Old Town Lewisville features the MCL Grand theater which hosts Broadway-style musicals, plays and concerts. Popular concerts happen year-round. Hip places to hang out include the Perc Coffeehouse, Larue Vineyards, and Witherspoon Distillery. The city recently received a three million dollar grant to improve the walkability of Old Town. Wider sidewalks, on-street parking, and additional trees and benches are in the works.

Lewisville provides great options for commuters. In addition to access to Highway 121 and Interstate 35, the A-train connects to the DART transit system. Train fares are affordable, ranging from $2.50 to $6.00 for a day pass. When factoring mileage, toll, and fuel costs, the train is viable and convenient.

As the Lewisville motto depicts well: this community has deep roots, broad wings, and a bright future. Consider adding Lewisville to your list of potential home-buying locations.
